I tackled the challenge of creating three animations exploring language barriers on the internet, using Wikipedia data. This project was part of an assignment addressing contemporary issues in information dissemination. Through dynamic animations and a dedicated webpage, I illustrated the hurdles of misinformation and language biases, emphasizing the vital role of comprehending language disparities in our digital age.

The Leuven University Library works on the content of an exhibition named Knowledge chained. Science, information and censorship during the age of Bouts and today. We were invited to create a visual work that can become part of it. I undertook the task of visually exploring contemporary challenges in information dissemination. Focusing on issues like misinformation, information overload, and biased data prevalent in today's digital landscape, I delved into the barrier that language poses for internet users seeking information.
My investigation focused on Wikipedia, a universal source of knowledge. Analyzing data from the platform's "List of Wikipedias," I crafted three dynamic data animations: a map pinpointing speakers' locations, and two bar charts illustrating the platform's growth and speaker-to-article ratios. Using diverse scripts to represent languages, these animations highlighted global linguistic variety. To provide context, I created a webpage, weaving a narrative around the visualizations, emphasizing the need to comprehend language disparities in the digital realm. This project sparked essential conversations about the accessibility and diversity of information in our interconnected world.
